The experience of Dr. Carolina Palma is in International Trade and Customs, including commercial compliance, commercial regulation, WTO regulations, export and import procedures, follow-up of free trade agreements and bilateral investment treaties, and investment law. Prior to joining EY Law, she served as negotiator for the Costa Rican Ministry of International Trade (COMEX) when the free trade agreement between Central America and the European Union was negotiated, and DR-CAFTA was implemented. She also contributed to the group in charge of International Investment Disputes and International Litigation. Additionally, she has been an advisor to the Embassy of Costa Rica in China, a researcher and professor at the World Trade Institute, the University of Renmin and the University of Costa Rica.
Carolina Palma holds a degree from the University of Costa Rica, as well as Master’s degrees in Law from the Ludwig-Maximilians University of Munich and in Economic Law and Foreign Trade from the National Distance Education University. In addition, Carolina holds a Doctorate in International Trade from the World Trade Institute in Switzerland.
