Biography

Karina Serrano has more than 6 years of experience in Corporate Law, especially in advising national and foreign companies that operates in different economic sectors, including: microfinance, telecommunications, pharmaceutical and free zones. Ms. Serrano has participated in processes of incorporation of companies, shareholding restructuring of companies, providing legal advice on regulatory matters for microfinance companies, also she has been contributing relevant due diligence processes for the acquisition of banking institutions, mining companies and companies  under the free trade zone regime.

Some of Karina's outstanding advisory services during these six years include:

  • Acquisition process of a millionaire business dedicated to the cultivation of tobacco in Nicaragua.
  • Registration process of a company that is part of one of the leading business groups in Nicaragua, as a microfinance institution before Microfinance Authority (CONAMI) and the Financial Analysis Unit (UAF), a process that included corporate and regulatory compliance advice.

Before joining EY Law Nicaragua, she worked as an Associate in the Corporate and Compliance Team in one of the most prestigious national and regional law firms.

Karina graduated with Magna Cum Laude honors from Universidad Americana (UAM) with a Law Degree in Nicaragua. Ms. Serrano has also post-graduate studies in Compliance from Instituto de Estudio e Investigación Jurídica (INEJ) and an International Certification in Legal Project Practitioner from the International Institute of Legal Project Management.
